There has been an uproar on social media following the release of “Black is King” video by Beyoncé. The video was a striking contrast to what Beyoncé normally does as it predominantly portrayed the African culture. Recall that Beyoncé also recently featured great African artistes in the “Lion King” album.
As a result of these happenings, some people believe Beyoncé is taking huge steps in pushing the African culture to the world and it is only befitting to crown her ‘Mama Africa’.
This did not sit well with a great deal of people, including fans on Beyoncé. They believe there are more deserving African women who have made monumental changes and impacts in Africa. Such as Angelique Kidjo, Miriam Makheba, Yemi Alade, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Brenda Fassie and many more.
