Governing council of the University of Lagos has sacked the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Toyin Ogundipe.

Prof. Ogundipe’s dismissal was reached by the council in its meeting at the Secretariat of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja.

The Council said Prof. Ogundipe has been removed after it found out serious acts of wrongdoing, financial recklessness, gross misconduct and abuse of office against his name.

Seven members of the council voted against Prof. Ogundipe while four others voted against the decision.

The sacked VC has been locked in a battle with the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN).

Their fiasco had led to the cancellation to the university’s convocation ceremonies.

Dr. Babalakin was also declared unwanted in the university by a section of ASUU, with another section, consisting of senior professors led by Prof. Lai Olurode dismissing the Congress that took the decision.IMG-20200812-WA0008.jpg
